WHO IS JESUS?

JESUS CHRIST: HIS DIVINITY AND HIS HUMANITY

STATEMENT OF BELIEFS

Jesus Christ is 100% God and 100% human.  Jesus Christ was born by the power of the Holy Spirit to a human mother.  He is Creator.  He is God: co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.  He was not simply a good moral human teacher. He is not merely a fellow human on the road to god-hood before us.  He is not finite.  He had no beginning, but “took on flesh and was made in the likeness of men.”  He has no end. He is not an alien. He is not an angel. He is not equal with Satan, and is not Satan’s brother. He is not an ascended master.

Because He is God, He is sinless; He never thought, felt, chose or did anything wrong.  Jesus Christ died for the sins of all humanity that have kept us from having a relationship with the God who loves us.  Because of our sins, humanity deserves punishment. But because Jesus is human, He was the perfect substitute for each and every person, and He took our punishment when He died on a Roman cross 2,000 years ago.

Jesus died and entered hell, so that He could defeat both death and hell when He came back to life three days later.  Jesus returned to heaven, and is the mediator between God and humanity in our prayers, and His blood covers our sins. If we accept His death and resurrection for us, He will forgive our sins and will reconcile our relationship to God, we will receive an inheritance in heaven and eternal life with Him. He came the first time as the suffering Servant.  He will return to earth at His second coming as the Judge.
